Wills & Probate
Wills
If you need assistance in relation to a will, probate or the affairs of the elderly then we can help.
Many people wrongly assume that upon death all their money, property and assets automatically pass to their next of kin. But if you don't have a will this isn't always the case: the law will determine who inherits your estate and against your wishes this may make no provision for unmarried partners, step children or any other members of your family that you care about. In certain circumstances your entire estate may pass to the Crown.
A will is therefore vital if you want to:
- Make provision for your family
- Decide whom you want as guardians of your children
- Mitigate against inheritance tax and minimise the amount going to the taxman
- Leave specific heirlooms to someone
- Make a charitable donation
- Leave legacies for your children or grandchildren
- Decide who you want to execute your will
Circumstances of course also change over time and so it's vitally important that you not only have a will but also keep it up to date, and we can help with this too.
Probate
Probate is the legal procedure to decide whether a deceased person has left a valid will. An Executor is a person chosen in the Will to administer the Estate and carry out the deceased's wishes.
Estate & Administration
The period after a family member dies can be both upsetting and traumatic. You may not feel you can cope with the administration of the estate and that's where we can help by dealing with as much or as little of the estate administration as you wish, whilst offering beneficial, sensible advice.
